Dr. Ateek holds a Bachelor's degree in Commerce with a specialization in Accounting from the College of Economics and Administration at King Abdulaziz University in Saudi Arabia in 1985/1986. He also earned a Master's degree in Commerce with a specialization in Accounting and Finance from Aligarh Muslim University in India in 1989/1990 and a Ph.D. in Commerce with a specialization in Accounting from Rajasthan University in India in 1993/1994.
He joined the faculty at the Institute of Management and Economics for Graduate Studies at the University of Jerusalem in 1998 and is currently a faculty member in the Accounting Department at the College of Finance and Business. He has been a member of the Association of Chartered Accountants since 2017. He previously worked as a visiting professor in the Accounting Department at the College of Economics and Social Sciences at An-Najah National University in Nablus in 2015/2016 and in the Accounting Department at the College of Economics and Administrative Sciences at the Applied Science University in Amman, Jordan, from 1994 to 1998.
His academic achievements include research publications in peer-reviewed international journals in his areas of interest, which include taxation, auditing, and accounting. He has also supervised many master's thesis students in accounting and served as an internal and external examiner for some university theses.
