Dr. Imad Abu Kishek is the fourth President of the University of Jerusalem, a position he has held since 2014. He first arrived at the University of Jerusalem as a student over thirty-four years ago and subsequently embarked on a career in research, academia, and administration within the institution. Over the past two decades, he has progressed through various leadership positions.
His journey within the university began with his role as the Head of the Department of Political Science. He later assumed positions such as Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs and Executive Vice President. During these years, he played a significant role in steering the university through a transformative period, establishing it as one of the leading universities in the Arab world.

Under Dr. Abu Kishek's leadership, the University of Jerusalem witnessed a significant expansion of its academic programs, a diversification of its research and community initiatives, and the introduction of unique educational programs. Among these is the Dual Studies Program, established in partnership with the German government, which combines theoretical and practical study in fields including electrical engineering, information technology, and business administration, bridging the gap between academic education and the demands of the job market.

Moreover, the university expanded its international partnerships during his presidency, resulting in the creation of numerous academic and student exchange programs. It also established several groundbreaking centers, including the Confucius Institute, the Indian Academy for Innovation, and the Jerusalem Academy for International Justice, overseen by former ICC Prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo. Additionally, the Competitive and Strategic Center, established in collaboration with Harvard University, became the first of its kind in Palestine.
These initiatives were part of a comprehensive strategic plan formulated under Dr. Abu Kishek's guidance, helping the university confront financial challenges arising from the exceptional circumstances in Palestine. The university made significant strides toward achieving financial stability.

Dr. Abu Kishek also initiated projects aimed at fostering creativity and entrepreneurship among Palestinian youth. He recognized their potential to address various issues facing Palestine and promote growth and development.
Dr. Abu Kishek is a prominent Palestinian figure with substantial contributions in public policy, culture, education, and institutional development. He serves on the boards of several community organizations, including the Wafiyeh Al-Quds Fund and the board of trustees of the Arab Academy for Managerial Professions. He has been elected as a member of the Palestinian National Council and serves on the Jerusalem Committee formed by the Council.

Furthermore, Dr. Abu Kishek holds a professorship in public policy, making him the only Palestinian with this distinction. He earned his Ph.D. in Public Policy from Northeastern University in Boston, USA, and his bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Jerusalem.
