He is a professor of auditing and management accounting in the Department of Accounting at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at An-Najah National University. He is a researcher specializing in issues of good governance and its applications. He holds a doctorate in the philosophy of accounting from the University of Würzberg in Germany, and a license to practice Palestinian auditing and auditing.
Mr. Al-Koni held the position of Minister of Local Government in the fifteenth and sixteenth Palestinian governments, and Head of the Prime Minister’s Office in the seventeenth government. Previously, he held many high-ranking administrative positions at An-Najah National University. He worked as Head of the Accounting Department, Coordinator of the Master of Business Administration Program, and Dean of the College of Graduate Studies, in addition to serving as Vice President of the University for Administrative Affairs, through to his current position, which he held several times, as Dean of the College of Economics and Administrative Sciences.
Al-Koni is also a community activist who served as chairman and member of many boards of directors and specialized and professional committees. Among them is the position of Vice President of the Palestinian Governance Institute, membership in the examinations committee of the Council for the Practice of the Auditing Profession in Palestine, and membership and chairmanship of financial, auditing, and budgeting committees in public shareholding companies.
