Information

He returned home about a year ago, excelling, with a series of achievements that he is proud of, the latest of which was his fifth patent.

Dr. Wassim Wajih Abu Aoun holds a PhD in Organic Chemistry and Industrial Catalysis. He works as a part-time lecturer at An-Najah and Birzeit Universities.

He has many research ideas suitable for the Palestinian environment, despite the scarcity of resources and the difficulty of analyzing samples. However, he has several important partnerships with several research agencies and universities abroad.

He is currently working in the field of water purification from heavy metals by employing some polymers, and he has a research activity in the use of nanotechnologies to be used against bacteria and water purification.

Dr. Wassim received his primary and secondary education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with distinction, and holds a Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Applied Chemistry from An-Najah National University.

Dr. Abu Aoun was sent on a scholarship to the PhD program of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which is among the best 200 universities in the world, to join a joint research team between King Fahd University and the National University of Singapore NUs, which is among the thirty best universities in the world, to obtain a doctorate with distinction and distinction .

Dr. Wassim published more than ten research papers and obtained five patents for Aramco, the “global oil giant.”His research focused on producing and designing new organic materials with unknown compositions, and using them as catalysts, to be used in industrial organic reactions that produce useful materials against metal corrosion. Pharmaceutical materials used in cancer treatment protocol.

As for the fifth patent, it enables these catalysts to be fixed on plastic polymeric materials with chemical bonds, so that they can be recycled and used more than ten times, with an efficiency of up to 98% for the tenth time, which is an important leap in this field in terms of economic, environmental and medical aspects.

Dr. Abu Aoun participated in more than 16 international scientific conferences, during which he won four awards, most notably the award of the Young Researchers Conference at the University of Jordan, where he won second place among more than 130 researchers from 35 countries.
