The champion, Muhammad Naji Sidr, was crowned champion in the Arab Chess Championship for the year 2019 by winning the gold medal for the 10-year age group, and the young champion, Randa Naji Sidr, won the bronze medal for the 6-year-old category, as more than 280 male and female players participated in the chess age group championship in Jordan. Al-Shaqiq, from 7/19 for nine days, with wide participation from representatives of 16 sister Arab countries, and the tournament witnessed strong competition between the players.
Palestine was represented by a delegation of thirty male and female players, coaches and administrators under the supervision of the Palestinian Central Chess Federation, with the largest representation in the history of Palestinian chess.
The Palestine Chess Association - the leader in Palestine - sent a third of the participating delegation (13 male and female players, coaches and administrators), and the rest of the players obtained good points in relation to the level of the tournament. The delegation was accompanied by the Vice President of the Association, Naji Sidr, and the persistent chess coach, Muhammad Saadi Al-Qawasmi.
The Palestine Chess Association thanked everyone who contributed to this distinguished Arab national achievement, especially the Royal Industrial and Commercial Company and the Hebron Municipality Workers Union for their generous contribution to the team. It also thanked the Palestinian Chess Federation for its contribution in facilitating the participation of this number of players and exempting them from fees, hoping for continued giving. And moving forward to raise the name of Palestine high in all international forums.
