Omar Hashem is the newly elected president of the Nablus Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the 2019 elections. He is a native of Nablus, born in 1948. He is an economist and a Nablus merchant, and works in the field of money exchange (in his company, which he founded in 1984). He has owned Hashem Trading and Novelties stores in Khan al-Tujjar since 1999.
Omar Hashem holds a Bachelor's degree in Commerce and Business Administration from the Higher Institute of Commerce in Cairo, Arab Republic of Egypt, and graduated in 1971.
Throughout his career and up to the present day, Omar Hashem has held the following positions:
Manager of Bank Leumi / Municipality Square Branch / Nablus from 1971 to 1984
Former member of the board of directors of the Jordanian Chemical Factory - Beit Jala
In 1992, he was elected as a member of the board of directors of the Nablus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and served as its vice president until 2011.
