Information
Sameeh Darwazah: A Jordanian businessman and politician of Palestinian origin from the city of Nablus. He earned a Master’s degree from the American University of Beirut and another Master’s degree from the St. Louis College of Pharmacy in Missouri, USA.
He served as Jordan’s Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources and was a member of the Jordanian Senate. Darwazah is the founder of Hikma Pharmaceuticals, the first Arab-origin pharmaceutical company to enter the U.S., U.K., and European markets.
Under his leadership, Hikma expanded globally, acquiring manufacturing plants in the United States, Portugal, Italy, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Algeria, and distributing its products across 52 markets worldwide. The company was first listed on the London Stock Exchange as an international public company in 2005, and is also listed on the Dubai Financial Market.
