Hassan Muhammad Al-Asi (December 3, 1967) is a Palestinian-Syrian writer, researcher and poet, residing in Denmark.

 

His upbringing and education

He was born in Damascus in 1967 to a Palestinian family who sought refuge from Nazareth in the 1948 war, and received his school education in the schools of the UNRWA in the city of Damascus. He traveled to Yemen in 1992 and studied philosophy and political economy. He returned to Damascus in 1995 and worked in journalism.

 

He moved to Denmark and obtained a bachelor's degree in media from its universities in 2006, and in 2010 a master's degree in media and journalism with a thesis entitled "Palestinian Literature in the Palestinian Printed Press during the Twentieth Century". In 2016, he received a diploma in Palestinian Studies.

 

His journalistic and media activity

In his youth, he joined the Palestinian Youth Organization in Damascus, and in 1995 he worked in its magazine “Al-Shabiba”, where he prepared a monthly file on the conditions of young people, and obtained membership in the General Union of Palestinian Writers and Journalists. Then, in 1996, he joined the editorial board of Al-Hadaf magazine. After his move, he published articles in the weekly "Al-Shahed", which was concerned with the affairs of the Arab communities in Europe.

 

In 2001, he worked as a host for a radio program on “Radio Edfad” in Copenhagen, and in 2002 he became a broadcaster for the same programme. Then in 2004 he received training at Copenhagen TV, where he worked as a producer of special programs about refugees in Denmark. In 2007 and 2008, he worked as a non-resident reporter in the Kingdom of Morocco. He continued his work on television until 2010. Then he moved to work in an organization Assisting Danish refugees as an asylum researcher.

 

His political activity

I participated in the establishment of the Palestinian Right of Return Committees in Denmark. He was also active in the Danish-Palestinian Friendship Committee. He previously founded and chaired the Palestine Committee for Human Rights in Denmark and participated in several political and human rights activities.

 

His literary activity

He published four collections of poetry:
