Ahmed Abdel Hamid Odeh, commonly known as Hisham Odeh (1956), is a Palestinian poet, writer and journalist. He was born in Kifl Haris, from the Nablus area. He studied at the College of Administration and Economics at Al-Mustansiriya University in Baghdad. He worked there as an editor in the Palestinian Al-Tha’ir Al-Arabi magazine, the Iraqi Al-Thawra newspaper, and a broadcaster on Baghdad Radio. He worked in the Palestinian, Iraqi and Jordanian press from 1982 until 2015. He returned to his homeland in March 2014 and has several collections of poetry and works in translations of poets.

Ahmed Abdel Hamid Odeh was born in 1956 in Kifl Haris in the Nablus region and grew up there. He studied high school/the scientific section at An-Najah College in 1975, then went to Iraq and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Al-Mustansiriya University in 1994.

He worked in Ba’athist Iraq, and worked on Radio Jumhuriya in Baghdad from 1983 to 1997, and on Radio Palestine there, and then in Jordan, where he worked as a cultural editor in the daily Al-Arab Al-Youm from 1989 to 1999, then as editor-in-chief of the weekly Al-Wahda newspaper from 2001 to 2004, Then he moved to work in the cultural department of the daily Al-Dustour newspaper in 2008. He worked in the Palestinian, Iraqi and Jordanian press from 1982 until 2015. He returned to his homeland in March 2014 after nearly forty years of his life in exile at the invitation of the Palestinian Ministry of Culture.

Administrative profession

He is a member of the Jordanian Writers Association, and served as a member of its administrative board for several sessions. He is also a member of the Arab Organization for Human Rights, the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate and the Jordanian Journalists Syndicate, and a member of the Administrative Board of the General Union of Palestine Students, Baghdad Branch in 1982, and the President of the General Union of Palestine Students Iraq Branch for two sessions in 1995. -1997, and a member of the General Union of Palestinian Writers and Journalists and the General Conference of the Union in Sana'a 1982 and Algeria 1987, and a member of the administrative board of the Jordanian Writers Association for four sessions, delivered in two sessions, including the position of the association's secretary.

In November 2019, the first volume of his poetic works was published, in 500 pages, entitled Diwan of Hisham Odeh 1989-2019. Nidal Burqan collected and categorized all that was written in the Arab newspapers about the poetics of Hisham Odeh and published it in a book entitled Resist for Life: Hisham Odeh as a Poet in 2017.
