Born in Gaza 1913, he finished his primary education in his country, he then moved to Jerusalem, studied Journalism at the Arab College of Jerusalem; published his articles in (Sawt Al-Haq) Newspaper; Helmi was the only Palestinian Cartoonist in the 1930's.
