Born in Lubya, Distrcit of Tiberias 1933; his family emigrated to Syria in 1948 (Nakba); received his BA in English language Literature; worked as a teacher; moved to Kuwait 1962-1968, he then returned to Damascus and worked as a lecturer at Damascus University; MA in 1975; member of the Palestinian National Council; PhD in International relations from California 1984.
