Information
Shakib Jahshan was born in Maghar, District of Tiberias in 1936. He received his school education in his village and Nazareth City. After his graduation in 1955, he worked as an Arabic Language teacher in the Ministry of Education, initially in Deir al-Asad then in Ar-Rama (Jenin).
During his work as a school teacher, he joined the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and took many courses. In 1964, he got married and resided in Ar-Rama. In the late 1980's, he contributed, along with many Palestinian writers, in establishing the General Union for the Palestinian Writers in the Occupied Palestine "Israel". Jahshan and many friends and colleagues of the Palestinian politician "Tawfiq Zayyad" decided to establish "Tawfiq Zayyad For National Culture and Creation" in Nazareth in 1966, Jahshan remained a member of its board of directors until his death on 14 February, 2003.
