Karim Abu Shaqra was born in Um Al-Fahim. An artist by nature and a self-made man, he studied at Bet Berril Fine Arts School in 1999-2000. He held several individual exhibits, including “Memories” at Giv’atHabiba Gallery, 2010; “Black & White” at Al-Hakawati Theater in East Jerusalem, 2009; “Lover of Color and Brush” in Tamra Exhibition Hall, 2008; “Without an Address” at the Public Center in Um Al-Fahim, 2005. Additionally, Abu Shaqra participated in collective exhibits at Tamra Exhibition Hall in 2010; Jaffa Salon for Palestinian Art in Jaffa, 2010; “Gaza War” in 2009; “Future Memory” in Paris, 2008; “Black Coffee” at Beit Al-Karma in Haifa, 2006. The painting reflects the suffering of the Palestinian people and the life they have been living since 1948. The painting incorporates the meanings of suffering, pain, hardship, misery, sadness and loss of dear ones and friends.
