Information
hails from Basma Taboun, a Galilean village east of Haifa, renowned for its scenic beauty.
His poetry is distinguished by its expressive power and vivid imagery, drawing upon a boundless imagination open to all directions. He draws from a rich tapestry of intertextuality, encompassing cultural heritage, suggestive allusions, and symbolic and mythological references—some specific, Arab and Eastern, others general, foreign and Western—that evoke diverse meanings, often departing from the conventional or established, reflecting a modernist perspective. Within the folds of his poetry, the reader is never without thought, taste, feeling, knowledge, and vision. His poems resonate with the concerns of lived experience and are imbued with a tranquil musicality.
Nimer Saadi is one of the new voices in the Palestinian poetry scene, due to the creative energy, prolific output, and rich store of diverse topics that characterize his poetry. He writes free verse poetry, and from time to time, also classical poetry and prose poetry.
He was honored by the Al-Aswar Foundation in Acre in 2007.
