Professor Wahib Rashid Al-Bitar was born in the city of Nablus and died in Amman .
He completed his primary and preparatory studies, and obtained a preparatory school certificate from Al-Najah School in Nablus in 1934. Then he traveled to Cairo, where he joined Dar Al-Ulum Higher School and graduated with a teaching license in education and literature in 1938. He also obtained a law degree, in addition to obtaining a certificate to complete the requirements of the Higher Teachers Exam in 1946 .
At the beginning of his career, he worked in the Arabic section of Palestine Radio (1937-1940). He then worked as a teacher in several schools in Jerusalem, and lectured at An-Najah National School in Nablus, then in Hebron, and later at Qalqilya Secondary School until the Nakba in 1948. He served as principal of Al-Fadiliya Secondary School in Tulkarm until the end of 1956, and as an inspector and director in the education sector. He then transferred to the Ministry of the Interior, where he served as governor of Karak in southern Jordan until shortly before the 1967 war.
Afterward, he returned to work as Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education. He also served as a cultural attaché at the Jordanian Embassy in Damascus until the beginning of 1971, the year he retired. However, he was reinstated to government service as an advisor at the Audit Bureau until he was relieved of his duties at his own request in 1980. His poetry includes a collection titled "A Teacher's Lament" (Dar Al-Karmel, Amman, 1986 ). ( Selections from his poetry were compiled by his son, Abdul Rahman Al-Bitar ).
His poetry revolves around complaint and reproach, and he has poetry on religious occasions such as the Prophet’s birthday and the anniversary of Isra and Mi’raj, mixing this with the issue of his occupied homeland, in addition to poetry in which he expresses his suffering as a teacher. Poetry is the elixir of life for him, and it is the calm shore to which he resorts and turns when others turn away from him.
He wrote love poems, as well as anthems with an enthusiastic nationalistic inclination, calling for unity among the Arab countries as the impregnable barrier against those conspiring against the future of this nation. He was distinguished by the novelty of his approach, the flexibility of his language, and his active imagination .
