Mahmoud Asfa: An Italian architect of Palestinian origin from the city of Hebron, he graduated from the Polytechnic University of Milan, and is the head of the Islamic Cultural Center Association in Milan. He received the 2009 Gold Medal from the Mayor of Milan for his continuous efforts to represent moderate Islam, which has been able to coexist peacefully with Italian society. This is the first award for an Arab Muslim in a long time.
