Fawzi Al-Asmar is an American writer and thinker of Palestinian origin, born in Haifa in 1937. He studied History and Political Science in the United States and earned his PhD from the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom. He served as Editor-in-Chief of Al-Sharq Al-Awsat International Newspaper and headed the United Arab Emirates News Agency office in Washington, D.C.
Fawzi Al-Asmar authored numerous books, the most prominent of which is An Arab in Israel (1975), translated into several languages. He was a distinguished political and media activist, a leading intellectual, and a seasoned advocate for Palestinian and Arab causes. Known for his rare political courage, he engaged in literary, political, intellectual, and dialogical struggles concerning Palestinian and Arab agendas and issues. His ideas and opinions have served as a guiding light for readers of his articles and contributions in Arab and Palestinian newspapers, magazines, and online platforms.
