Born in 1959 in Amman, Jordan, Mohammed Al Ameri is an established poet, painter, graphic artist, and critic. Al-Ameri directed the Jordanian Plastic Arts Association from 2000 till 2002. He headed the Theatre and Arts Directorate at the Ministry of Culture and is a member of the ‘Jordanian Critics Association and Arab Writers’.
Al-Ameri produces poetry during the long evening hours in winter, while he paints in summer. He draws inspiration from the outstanding sunlight. The poet-artist investigates the evolution of humanity since prehistoric times in some of his primitive somber paintings. In other works, he depicts picturesque abstracted landscapes in nature. Al-Ameri manipulates the evocative interrelation between color and form to create an aesthetic experience that engages sight and emotions. Through the interplay of color, along with linear and geometric shapes, his landscapes radiate a sense of reflection. Aside from painting, the plastic artist designed wooden chairs painted in striking acrylic paint, inspired by the iconic elongated chairs of late Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
Al-Ameri lives and works in Amman.
