Rabai al-Madhoun is a British novelist and writer of Palestinian origin from Ashkelon, Gaza District. He works as an editor for the London-based Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper. He has written three novels, in addition to studies and a collection of short stories. He recently won the ninth edition of the International Prize for Arabic Fiction for his novel "Destinies: Concerto of the Holocaust and the Nakba." He is the first Palestinian to win the award, having previously been shortlisted in 2010. The award was presented at a ceremony in Abu Dhabi, where the novel was chosen from among 159 nominated novels distributed across 18 Arab countries.
