Information

Alaa Abdel Majeed Musa Al-Laqta (born in Gaza , 1972) is a Palestinian doctor , artist , and daily cartoonist , famous for his patriotic drawings that reflect the Arab and Palestinian reality. He draws for several different Palestinian and Arab newspapers. He holds the Romanian Board (fellowship) in plastic surgery . He is married and the father of three daughters.

Won second place in the Arab Cartoon Award

Palestinian cartoonist Alaa Al-Laqta won second place in the 2013 Arab Cartoon Award, the second edition of which was announced by Dar Al Sharq on the sidelines of the opening of the 24th Doha International Book Fair. A total of 158 Arab cartoonists competed for the award, submitting 408 works of art.
He shared the photo with a painting titled "The Syrian Scene," dedicating his success to the souls of his parents, may God have mercy on them. The first place went to the artist Maher Rashwan from Egypt , and the third place went to the artist Mohammed Saba'neh from Palestine .

His opinion on caricature art

The art of caricature is defined as “ the art of bitter laughter, through which the artist condenses the concerns of the citizen, the issues of society, and the contradictions of reality into simple lines or brief words .” He believes that drawing caricatures played an important role during the 2014 war on Gaza , represented in conveying the true image of the occupier’s crimes and brutality, and exposing the complicity of our Palestinian and Arab brothers in this aggression through tightening the siege and attempts to break the will.
