Information
Issam Tantawi (1954-) is a Palestinian visual artist who was born in the city of Jerusalem . He then sought refuge with his family in Jordan after the setback in 1967, and studied in the schools of relief and employment for refugees in Jordan.
His biography
Issam Tantawi worked as a curricula illustrator in the Jordanian Ministry of Education between 1974 and 1976. He held the position of art director in a design company in Saudi Arabia from 1976 to 1984, and then worked as director of the Al-Hadaf Design Foundation in Amman between 1985 and 2001. He took more than 1,200 photographs on his camera lens during his trip from Cairo to Aswan .
In his artistic style, he moved between several styles from realism to expressionism , abstract expressionism, and expressionist cubism. He was preoccupied with the place and its human and architectural components . He excelled in the figurative drawing of the faces of women and children from cities and places through windows and doors as heritage elements that combine modernity and authenticity. His studio was located next to the Al-Luweibdeh Church in the Jordanian capital, Amman .
