Information

Tayseer Hamdan Ibrahim Al-Batniji (December 14, 1966-) is a Palestinian visual artist born in Gaza City, Palestine . He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from An-Najah University in Nablus in 1992. He completed his studies at the University of Bourges in France , after which he obtained a DNSEP certificate in 1997. He remained moving between France and Palestine until 2006, the beginning of the siege on Gaza .

His artistic style

Al-Batniji blends two different cultures through his use of different media such as drawing , installation art , photography , video and performance art, expressing the events surrounding him through his works. In addition, he uses the approach approach as he works to transform and adapt the initial subject, turning it into a poetic and sometimes critical view of reality. His works focus on memory and place by focusing on the political, geographical and human reality and representing the individual and collective context. Movement and wandering constitute an effective part of his artistic production, so his works raise questions about the reality of alienation and movement. Al-Batniji has contributed to the Palestinian art scene since the early nineties, as he has participated in several individual and group exhibitions since 2002 in Europe and the world.
