Information

Samer Abu Hawash , a Palestinian writer , poet and translator, born in 1972. He has several publications in poetry, novels and translation. He has published ten short story collections, the latest of which is “Atlal” published by Al-Mutawassit Publications , and two novels. He has also translated many American poems and English novels into Arabic .

the biography

Samer Abu Hawash was born in the city of Sidon , located in southern Lebanon , in 1972 to a Palestinian family. He studied in Sidon schools before moving to Beirut to complete his university studies, where he studied journalism and graduated from the Lebanese University - Faculty of Information and Documentation in 1996. Since 1994, Abu Hawash has worked in Beirut's cultural press. 

He began his literary career in 1991, where he published a number of his poems in several Lebanese magazines and newspapers. He published his first poetry collection, “Life is Printed in New York,” in 1997. He has published ten poetry collections to date. In 2005, he published his first novel, “Valentine’s Day.” He has two novels to his credit so far. Abu Hawash has also translated many American poems and English novels into Arabic .

He has translated more than twenty American poets into Arabic, including Robert Bly, Ai, Charles Bukowski, and Louise Glick. He has also translated many English novels, including “The Invention of the Flirt: Portrait of an Invisible Man followed by the Book of Memory” by Paul Auster , “Bridge of Stars” by Heng Mankell, the complete short stories of William Faulkner, “On the Road” by Jack Kerouac, “The Smoke Tree” by Dennis Johnson, “The House” by Marilynne Robinson, the complete short stories of J. J. Ballard, and many others. In 2008, he published a fifteen-volume translation series of American poetry published by Kalima, which includes works by Anne Sexton , Jack Kerouac , Billy Collins , Sylvia Plath , Charles Simic , William Faulkner , and others.
