Information
Samih Hamouda (1960-2019) is a Palestinian researcher and academic born in Bethlehem . He obtained a BA in Political Science from Birzeit University , and a MA in Political Science and Human Sciences from the University of South Florida . In 1979, he joined the Islamic movement and the Islamic Jihad movement . He has many books and studies related to the Palestinian cause, Palestinian Islamic movements, and the history of Palestine during the Mandate era .
He died on May 25, 2019 after a battle with liver cancer .
His biography
Samih Taha Hamouda was born in the Bethlehem Governorate to a family that had been displaced from the city of Lifta due to the Nakba of 1948. He traveled to the United States to complete his studies and at that time, in cooperation with Ramadan Shallah and Sami al-Arian, founded the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Mosque in the state of Florida, which provided services to Muslims. He was persecuted and then arrested for five years in American prisons due to his national positions and support for the resistance in Palestine , and was later deported in what was known as the Sami al-Arian case . He then returned to Ramallah in 2006 and worked as a professor at Birzeit University in history and political science.
He worked at the Arab Studies Society in Jerusalem during the period (1985-1992) and then at the Center for Islamic and World Studies in Tampa , Florida during the period (1992-1995).
He was the editor-in-chief of the Jerusalem Annals journal issued by the Institute for Palestine Studies before it was discontinued in August 2015, and he supervised the establishment of the Ramallah Municipality Archives and the digital archive of the Institute for Palestine Studies and Birzeit University.

Hamouda wrote and published many books and articles in Arab magazines, including:
The book Faith, Awareness and Revolution, which documented the biography of the Mujahid Izz al-Din al-Qassam , published in 1985.
The book “A Voice from Jerusalem: The Mujahid Daoud Saleh Al-Husseini Through His Memoirs and Papers,” published by Dar Al-Fikr in Ramallah in 2008.
The book “Ottoman Ramallah (A Study of Its Social History 1517-1918)” published by the Institute for Palestine Studies in 2017.
