Information

Abdullah Al-Sheety (1934 Haifa - 1999 Kuwait ), Palestinian writer and journalist . He worked for several Arab newspapers and was the editor-in-chief of the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Rai Al-Aam and magazine Al-Nahda, and published collections of short stories and satirical articles. 

His life 

He was born in Haifa in 1934, and after the 1948 war he took refuge with his family in Beirut and then Damascus . He worked in Damascus as a teacher in a private high school, and also worked in journalism.  He was a proofreader in the Damascus newspaper Al-Ayyam and later took over its editing.

He then moved to and worked in Beirut in the newspaper Al-Bairaq, which was published by Wajih Mazboudi. He also worked as a representative of the Sultanate of Oman in Beirut. In 1963 he moved to Kuwait and worked with Brigadier General Abdul Aziz Al-Masaeed in the Kuwaiti Dar Al-Rai Al-Aam as editor-in-chief of both Al-Rai Al-Aam and Al-Nahda magazine for more than three decades. In the latter, he had a daily column entitled “A Cup of Coffee.” He also had regular columns in Arab newspapers and magazines, the most famous of which were “Whispers and Nostalgia” in Al-Bairaq, and “Aphrodite’s Hymns” in Al-Nahda. He published articles in the Emirati newspaper Al-Wahda, the magazine Akhbar Al-Usbu’ in Qatar, and the magazine “Al-Dawliya” published in France. He appeared in various Kuwaiti and Gulf media outlets. 

He was a member of the Arab Writers Union , the Kuwaiti Journalists Association, and various cultural and literary associations.
