Jaafar Tuqan, (January 19, 1938 - November 25 , 2014 ), a Jordanian architect of Palestinian origin . He was born in Jerusalem , and he is one of the most famous modern architects in the Arab world . He is the son of the Palestinian poet Ibrahim Tuqan, from the city of Nablus in the West Bank. He contributed to major projects in most Arab countries, starting from Jordan . He served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Union of Consultants for Engineering and Environment, which is based in Amman . He won several awards, the most important of which was the Aga Khan Award for Islamic Architecture in its eighth session in 1999.

He has many projects in Jordan , Lebanon , the Gulf , and most Arab countries, including:
Aisha Bakkar Mosque in Beirut, as it was the first in that it planned a new and bold style in designing mosques and was implemented in 1970 and was an unprecedented work.

The most important awards he received

Certificate of appreciation in 1990 from Her Majesty Queen Noor Al Hussein for the efforts made in establishing, developing and maintaining the Jordanian National Museum of Fine Arts.
Winner of the Arab Towns Organization Award for Architect in 1992.
Winner of the World Habitat Award for the SOS Children’s Village Aqaba project in 1993.
It won the Best Building Certificate from the Jordanian Engineers Association for the Arab Insurance Company building in 1993.
He received a certificate of appreciation from the Engineers Syndicate for the best architectural project presentation in 1993.
Winner of the Medina Award, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for Architecture for the year 1997 for the Dar Al-Hadith Institute project in Medina .
Winner of the Palestine Architecture Prize , 1999 - 2000.
Winner of the 2001 Aga Khan Award for Architecture .
