Hamouda Muhammad Abdullah Zaloum (December 25, 1943) is a Jordanian-Palestinian writer and poet. He was born in the city of Hebron in the West Bank. He obtained a teachers’ diploma in 1967 and worked in education and journalism for a while, then devoted himself to writing. He published his writings in Jordanian and Arab newspapers and magazines. He has poetry collections and several books. 

His biography

Hamouda Muhammad Abdullah Zaloum was born on December 25, 1943/Dhu al-Hijjah 28, 1362 in Hebron . He completed high school in Jordan in 1965, and obtained an intermediate diploma in the Arabic language from the Huwwara Institute in Irbid in 1967. He worked in the Ministry of Education as a teacher. He was a director and librarian from 1967 to 1992 in Jordan and Saudi Arabia, then he left them to devote himself to writing.
He is a member of the Jordanian Writers Association , and was elected vice-president of its branch in Zarqa. He also served as a member of the administrative body of the Qalam Family Cultural Club in Zarqa, and headed the Supreme Cultural Committee of Zarqa Governorate.
He began writing in the early sixties in Jordanian and Lebanese newspapers and wrote critical and poetic books. He also participates in Jordanian cultural seminars.

Achievements and Awards

His awards

1995: He received the State Encouragement Award, with participation, from the Ministry of Culture in 1995 for his book Zarqa, Its Past and Present , and the song “The Antiquities of Jordan” that he wrote won the Children’s Song Festival Award from the Ministry of Culture in 1995.
