Information

Ismail Fahd Ismail, (born: January 1, 1940, Basra - died: September 25, 2018, Kuwait), a full-time Kuwaiti writer and novelist since 1985. He obtained a BA in Literature and Criticism from the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts - State of Kuwait. He worked in the field of teaching and management of educational media, and managed an artistic production company.

Novelist Ismail Fahd Ismail is considered the true founder of the art of the novel in Kuwait, because he represents one of the Arab novelist brands counted in the firmament of the art of the novel. Ismail Al-Fahd presented his first novel, “The Sky Was Blue,” in 1970. At that time, the well-known Arab writer and poet Salah Abdel Sabour said about him in his introduction to the novel: “The novel was a big surprise to me, as this novel is as new as I imagine. Twentieth century novel. Coming from the farthest part of the Arab East, where there are no traditions in the art of the novel, and where life still reserves the greatest place for poetry. The secret of my surprise was not only that, but perhaps that did not surprise me until after the novel itself astonished me with its precise contemporary artistic construction, and with the amount of passion, love, violence, cruelty, and thought all permeating its folds.” Ismail Fahd Ismail is considered the most important pillar of the art of fiction and short stories in Kuwait in particular. His sponsorship of a large number of short story and novel writers, and his embrace of creative literary talents, have become a remarkable presence on the Kuwaiti and Arab scene.
