Information

Suzan Abul-Hawa
A Palestinian-American novelist, who writes in English about the issue of her motherland, “Palestine,” and tells in her novel, which achieved great spread and was one of the best-selling in the world in the year it was published in 2010. In “Morning in Jenin,” which was translated into Arabic under the title “While the World Sleeps,” Abu al-Hawa deals with the history of Palestine from the Nakba in 1948 until the present era, and what happened on the land of Palestine in this long history of conflicts, wars, massacres and catastrophes, by monitoring the biography of the family of “Yahya Abu Al-Hija” and tracing the life of him and his children and grandchildren, generation after generation. Amal, the daughter of Jenin camp, narrates her tragedy. Her family, loaded with her memories, moving between camps and shelters, tells the story of a homeland being lost, massacres taking place, and children and women being killed in pain and oppression, while the world does not pay attention to them, does not look at them, or cares about the justice of their cause.
Suzanne Abu Al-Hawa wrote this novel following her visit to the refugee camps in 2002 as an international observer after the brutal Israeli attack on them, and she saw it as her duty to tell and monitor that tragedy to the world in a narrative form. She is not satisfied with that tragedy despite its ugliness and difficulty, but in it she tells the story of Palestine and what happened to its people. Over the years.
