Rashid Ali Issa Abu Maryam (1951) is a Jordanian-Palestinian writer and poet. He was born in the city of Nablus . He obtained a license to teach the Arabic language from the Higher Teacher Education College in Amman. Then he studied Arabic language and literature at the University of Jordan , from which he obtained a bachelor’s degree in 1993, a master’s degree in 1996, and a doctorate in 2003. He worked as an Arabic language teacher in Saudi Arabia for a period and then returned to Jordan. He was appointed editor-in-chief of the Jordanian Al-Katib magazine . He is a member of the Jordanian Writers Association , and the curriculum writing committee in the Jordanian Ministry of Education. He published his poetic productions and articles in a number of Arab periodicals. He has poetry collections and books on criticism, communication skills, life, collections of songs for children, and similar collections of short stories. 

His biography

Rashid Ali Issa Abu Maryam was born in Nablus in 1951. He graduated from the Arabic Language Department at the University of Jordan in 1993 with a BA, and completed his graduate studies, obtaining a MA from the same university in 1996, and a doctorate from the University of Jordan in 2003.

He worked during the years 1972 - 1988 teachers in schools in the Kingdom of Saudi ArabiaDuring the years 1988 - 1995, he was a teacher in the schools of the Jordanian Ministry of Education. He also worked as a member of the Arabic language curricula in the Ministry of Education (linguistic editing) during the years 1995 - 2001 and head of the Arabic Language Department in the Curriculum Directorate of the same Ministry. He also worked as a part-time lecturer at the Center Languages at the University of Jordan during the years 1999-2000 and at Al-Nasher University in Sudan in 2001, in addition to his work as an expert in Arabic language curricula. Then he moved on to teach at Princess Alia College/Balqa Applied University since 2008.

He took over the editorial management of Baraem Amman magazine , which was published by the Greater Amman Municipality 2007/2008, and was chosen as a member of the editorial board of Wissam magazine , which was published by the Ministry of Culture (2011).

He is a member of the Jordanian Writers Association and the Arab Writers UnionHe presented research on a number of Arab cultural events, made various contributions to radio and television in Saudi Arabia and Jordan, and wrote operettas for national occasions.

His prizes

• 1996: The song Spring and Peace, written by him, won first place in the Arab Child Song Festival, organized by the Ministry of Culture in 1996.
• 2004: The song “ Let Me Sorrow” won the Arabic Song Festival Award from Radio Morocco in 2004.

Rashid Issa was distinguished by his skill in choosing the vocabulary of his poetry, in a way different from the poetry vocabulary used. ^[5] He said about himself, “I write the poem first to live life in it, and I do not think about the audience at all, because the artistic formation in my poem is based on what Bishr ibn al-Mu’tamid said,” that the brilliant writer is the one who uses soft words with harsh meanings... and writes for the elite, so the public understands him.. I rely on suggestion, metonymy, and gesture, and I never seek the applauding reader, because enthusiasm is a temporary emotional reaction. Rather, I seek the contemplative reader who is good at interpreting and imbuing the text with distant meanings.”
