Throughout my school years, I always wrote ideas and short stories in Arabic, and I had great support from my parents and teachers, who encouraged me to read literature through the school radio system, which strengthened my confidence in my ability to write at that delicate time in my development path.
Today, I look back on those early years of my life and try to imagine the importance and quality of support that was provided to me: the daughter of a Palestinian father and a Syrian mother who grew up in public schools in Kuwait.
I entered the engineering field, shifted my focus to technical writing in English, and then immigrated to the United States during the Gulf War, where I earned a master's degree in engineering, raised a family, and volunteered to advocate for victims of domestic abuse. But all the while, creative writing remained my escape tool, my way to de-stress, and refocus on myself, so I continued writing my reflections.
