Rashad Mahmoud Abu Shawar is a Palestinian storyteller and novelist, born in 1942 in the village of Zikrin, Hebron District, Palestine. He joined the ranks of the Palestinian resistance and held several positions in the institutions of the Palestine Liberation Organization. He worked as deputy editor-in-chief of the Palestinian Writer magazine, issued by the Union of Arab Writers and Palestinian Journalists in Beirut. Member of the Story and Novel Society.

His novel “The Lovers” (1977) was considered among the 100 most important novels in the Arab world. It won the “Mahmoud Saif al-Din al-Irani” award. He also won the Palestine Appreciation Award for the year 2019.
