Information

The writer and writer Samih Khalil Shabib was born on May 16, 1948, in the city of Jaffa in the Al-Ajami neighborhood, and his family immigrated a few days after his birth to Damascus.


He lived his childhood in Syria, attended Damascus University, and obtained a history degree in 1972. From there he moved to Beirut to complete his studies, and obtained a master’s degree in history from the Jesuit University in 1979. There he joined the ranks of the Palestinian resistance. He worked in the Palestinian press in Syria and Lebanon from 1972 to 1982.


After the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982, Shabib moved to Damascus, then to Tunisia, and from there to Cyprus. He settled there until 1993. During this period, he worked at the Palestinian Research Center of the Palestine Liberation Organization, and was editor of Palestinian affairs in the magazine “ Palestinian Affairs .”


Writer Shabib moved to Ramallah with those returning to the West Bank under the Oslo Accords signed with Israel in 1993. He worked as a lecturer in the “Department of Philosophy and Cultural Studies” at Birzeit University, and worked as an official in charge of the “ Department of Arab Political Parties ” in the “Department of National and International Relations ” in the Palestine Liberation Organization from 1994 to 1998.   

Among his most important works are:   

- Issues and Dilemmas of the National Liberation Movement in the Third World, joint, Dar Al-Samoud, Beirut, 1978 .
- Arab Independence Party in Palestine (1932-1933), Research Center, Palestine Liberation Organization, Beirut, 1981 .
- The Organizational Structure of the Palestinian National Parties, Sharq Press, Nicosia, 1988 .
