Information
Jamil Al-Bahri is a Palestinian writer. He is one of the prominent founders of the “Literature Circle” in Haifa in 1922. He was born in Haifa in 1898, received his education in the city of Haifa, and worked in the field of education.
In 1921, he established the magazine “ Zahrat al-Jamil ”, then changed its name in 1922 to “ Al-Zuhur ” newspaper, and it continued to be published until 1930. It bore a literary, historical, and narrative character. It was published twice monthly, and constituted one of the phases of Palestinian thought in the early twentieth century. It encouraged Translating the eyes of world literature into Arabic, thus contributing to broadening the horizons of readers and enhancing their knowledge of the novels and other examples of literature it translates.
He died in 1930, and his name was awarded the Jerusalem Medal for Culture and Arts in 1990. Jamil Al-Bahri wrote and translated many literary works, including:
