When you are a poet who carries the love of Palestine in your poems, and a broadcaster whose words adorn Palestine, and you carry the concerns of your country, your tongue and pen will be more effective than weapons, and you will fight to defend it wherever you go... and this is how our poet is... defending the Algerian revolution in Germany. Defends Cairo from Jerusalem. He defends the Vietnamese revolution from Beirut, and the Palestinian revolution from Amman, and wherever he lives and travels...

All of this came together in a Palestinian Arab poet and broadcaster fighting on the media fronts... He is the poet Issam Hosni Hammad.

He defended Egypt with his radio voice during the tripartite aggression in 1956, when he was working on Jordanian radio. That day, planes bombed the Egyptian Radio building, and frustration and sadness took over his colleagues on the radio, and some of them even began to cry. Issam Hammad only entered the studio, pushed his colleagues aside, grabbed the microphone and said: The colonizer wanted to silence the voice of freedom, and he will not be able to. “Here is Cairo” and this slogan was launched on Arab stations... in Jordan “From Amman, here is Cairo” and in Syria “From Damascus, here is Cairo”, and so did some Arab radio stations, and the slogan was repeated in Arab capitals. Hammad had done it previously, when he was

in When the fighting broke out in Jerusalem, the Arabic section of Palestinian Radio and its companions moved the radio equipment on their shoulders to the city of Ramallah, and continued broadcasting from it under the title: Here is Jerusalem!

He defended the Algerian revolution when he opened a media battle in Europe while he was director of the Arabic section on Radio Berlin, the day they picked up on the radio a message about the killing of an Algerian citizen at the hands of a French colonialist in front of an Associated Press correspondent, in 1962, so he wrote his article, which spread strongly at that time. “Blood on the corner of the road” and among them “Do not panic, my dear... Everything is fine... He is just an Arab... He fell dead near me... He is one of the Algerians, nothing more and nothing less”.. This article had a great influence in the circles. Media.
