Information

Iman Al-Tayeb did not leave it to chance to determine her future and her passion. As soon as she glimpsed those long, thin, wrapped leaves with bright colors on the Internet, she was fascinated by them, and decided to learn the art of "quilling" based on those leaves. She did not leave a video on YouTube that teaches this art but followed it. , until I mastered it and distinguished it.

The idea of "quilling" is based on wrapping colored cardboard and slicing it evenly in length and thickness using special tools and forming it on a board that expresses various topics such as occasions, birthdays, weddings, graduations, and others.

Iman Al-Tayeb - 24 years old - a graduate of the Arabic language, succeeded with great success in practicing the art of "rolling paper", which dazzled everyone who saw it. She told Al-Sharq: "As soon as I showed my first work on my Facebook account, everyone of my friends showed their great admiration for my work, especially "It is a new art around us that has not been seen before."

And she adds, "Because this art is not common in Gaza, the tools needed for it were simply not available, but that did not stop me from loving working in it and continuing, as I found alternatives, although they took more time to complete the work, but they were sufficient."

And he continued: "In the early years of learning this art, I used to spend long hours preparing only one painting, but practice, the desire for challenge, and the passion that overwhelmed me prompted me to continue and not stop."

Iman's first work was when she was eighteen years old, when she participated in an exhibition of Arabic calligraphy with the great artists, and she was the youngest at the time.

This art became at the forefront of the new and non-traditional arts in Gaza, and it had a distinguished appearance that gave Iman the title of "Queen of Paper" for her role in developing this art and for the beautiful shapes she makes with paper, and because she is the first in the Gaza Strip to learn and teach it, and she expresses: "I did not only learn it, but I trained the children to make beautiful shapes with it by offering them training courses.”

Iman deserved this title after she transformed the quiet, static clippings into distinctive creative paintings that speak to the concerns of Gaza and the issues of Palestine and reflect the beauty of nature and its picturesque scenes.

Iman participated in many exhibitions, while her art began to decorate many gifts until she joined the famous gift preparation team in Gaza known as the “Surprise Company.”

She points out that social networking sites had the most prominent role in her fame and people getting to know her art and communicating with her to ask for gifts, indicating that humans are naturally inclined towards something exciting and strange, so her unconventional art was very popular with people in Gaza.

Iman tries to break away from the norm, as she began drawing paintings with these scraps as decorative accessories for weddings and various occasions, including painting on glass panels presented in the newlyweds’ names and hung in guest rooms.

She confirms that “cooling” represented a distinctive shift in her life for her, and she explains: “There is a defining moment in a person’s life that may change his life and his future, if he seizes it, invests in it, and unleashes himself, his imagination, and his hidden abilities that will make him a special, effective person in his society, in addition to the importance of that.” in achieving itself. She hopes that this art will spread more widely than it already has and that it will receive greater attention from institutions concerned with art.
