The artist Wassim Buqai from the village of Shaab won the award for the best Arab plastic artist in the world for the year 2020 in the Arab Group competition in London, which is one of the most important private companies to organize competitions around the world, after the international committee chose the artist Wassim and crowned him first place, with the cup and gold medal in installation art, design and construction of models.
The artist Wassim Bukai was born in the village of Shaab al-Jalila in 1984. He completed his primary, preparatory and secondary education in his village.
His professional life, Wassim worked in the field of construction, a turning workshop, oxygen welding, and he also worked in the field of car repair. One of the inventions that was appreciated by his teachers at the primary level was the design of a helicopter made of Eskimo sticks after he connected it to an electric motor that runs on a battery.
The most important art projects, in 2010 he designed a car he invented from a motorcycle engine and turned it into a car, an electric kneading machine that works on cog wheels, a device for cleaning floors that works on the pressure of soapy water, and other sculptures and other industries that were made of wood and scrap. In recent years, Wassim has devoted his time to making metal models from scrap metal, specializing in recycling, as the number of his works in 2020 reached hundreds of different works.
