For a group of
photos from the recent Israeli war on Gaza, Palestinian photographer Fatima
Shabeer won the German "Anya Niederinghaus" Courage Award in
photojournalism from the International Women's Media Foundation
"IWMF".
Fatima shared
a set of photos during the recent aggression on Gaza in May 2021, showing the
extent of the destruction and lost feelings during the aggression.
Fatima Shbeir
lives in the besieged Gaza Strip, where she studied business administration at
Al-Azhar University for three years, then switched and began studying
journalism. She was interested in documenting daily life and photographing
Palestinian customs, foods and products.
In 2017, she
participated in the Moments competition launched by National Geographic Abu
Dhabi magazine, and won first place in the Documentary category, after telling
the story of the henna night as a Palestinian tradition that is passed down
from generation to generation.
