Palestinian
journalist Muhammad al-Thalathini from the Gaza Strip and a photographer for
the German News Agency "dpa" won the International American Poy Prize
for the Breaking News category.
The winning
photo was taken from the last war on the Gaza Strip during the bombing of a
residential building. In turn, the photographer Mohammed took the photo at the
moment of the bombing.
The picture shows a huge mass of flame rising
during the fall of the second missile from an "F16" plane before it
exploded. The captured picture was classified as the exceptional picture.
The judges of
the competition agreed that the photo was "decisive" and
"powerful", noting that it was taken at the right time and place. The
photo of the thirtieth year received a degree of distinction and appreciation
worldwide.
It is worth
mentioning that the prize for excellence and appreciation in the American poy
competition is a major international competition in which hundreds of
journalists present their materials and the winning picture in the competition
is done through a live jury, and wins a greater number of votes.
