Valentina Abu Aqsa (born December 13, 1967 in Maalia) is a Palestinian actress, writer, and theater director. She lives in Haifa.

I was born in 1967 in the town of Maaya in the Upper Galilee in northern Palestine.

She professionalized theater as an actress in 1986 - after a year and a half of studying acting in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem - with the Al-Hakawati Troupe in Jerusalem and participated in several Palestinian theatrical works. She is a founding member of the Palestinian Playwrights Association in 1987 in occupied Jerusalem. She went to preparation, stage writing, directing and then producing, and she has a number of works that set a precedent in the Palestinian theater arena, including the project (Child Artist) and its achievements, and the play (I am Free).

On April 9, 2002, she was hit by a live bullet fired by an Israeli soldier, on the outskirts of Jenin camp, causing her a permanent disability in the joint of her left hand.

She presented her roles and works on the stages of Palestinian theaters, Arab cities, and many cities in Europe and the United States.

She is married to Jerusalemite Rommel Abdel Nour, and they have two sons, Nashed and Yaman.

She wrote poetry in her childhood since 1981, and her first publication was published in the Communist Party newspaper (Al-Ittihad) in 1984 and then Al-Hadaf magazine. Dozens of her poems were published in Palestinian newspapers, Al-Ittihad, Fasl Al-Maqal, Al-Ayyam, Al-Kateb magazine and Dafater Thaqafiyya. Her name became famous as a poet since her recklessness, and her rebellious personality emerged through her writing and reciting poetry on many national and international occasions.

Achievements and Awards

In August 2012, she won the “Etel Adnan” International Award for Dramatic Literature for her play “I am Free” at the International Conference of Women Playwrights held in Stockholm.
