Mays Dagher, a Palestinian storyteller, was born in Jerusalem in 1983, and lives in Birzeit / Ramallah. Graduated from Birzeit University.

 

career

Her first collection of stories entitled “The Masters Love Honey” was published by Ugarit Publishing House, Ramallah, in 2013. A second collection of stories entitled “The Lady’s Coat” was published by Al-Ahlia for Publishing and Distribution in Amman in 2017. The author won the Writer’s Prize for this collection. The Young Palestinian of the Year 2015, in the field of the short story, which is awarded by the Abdul Mohsen Qattan Foundation every two years for the best text in the fields of poetry, short story and novel, for Palestinian youth in the homeland and diaspora. This award is the highest non-governmental literary award for youth in Palestine. The storyteller won first place for her short story “In His Creation of Affairs” in the “Stories on the Air” competition, which is organized monthly by the Kuwaiti Al-Arabi magazine. The story appeared in the September 2017 issue of the magazine. In the field of literature for children and young adults, the writer has the following works:

 

A novel for young adults entitled “Forced Leave”, issued by Al-Ahlia for Publishing and Distribution 2016. Al-Ahlia for Publishing and Distribution won for this novel the award of the Arab Forum for Children’s Book Publishers for the year 2017, in the category of young adult novels. This novel was also shortlisted for the 2016 Emirates Etisalat Award, in the Young Adult Books category.

 

A comic story for young people entitled “Al-Ostoura”, the author of this story won the first prize in the 2017 comic writing competition for children and adolescents, which was organized by Dar Al-Hadaek in Lebanon. The story is on its way to being published.

 

A children’s story entitled “The Gypsy Fairy”, published by the Palestine Writing Workshop 2016.
