Omar Bi Muhammad al-Yafi, a Palestinian poet, was born in Jaffa in the year 1173 AH, then moved to Egypt, then returned to Gaza and settled in Damascus. He lived the life of a Sufi writer, published a number of collections and wrote letters and research papers. He died in Damascus in 1233 AH.

The Palestinian poet Omar Bi Muhammad al-Yafi was born in Jaffa in the year 1173 AH, then he left for Egypt, then returned to Gaza and toured the Levant and the Hijaz, then settled in Damascus. He studied at the hands of the famous sheikhs of his time in his homeland, and in Egypt and the Levant, he took from the imams of religious knowledge in them, and lived the life of the Sufi writer and poet, and issued a number of collections and a thousand letters and research. Tenth of 5 Ottoman sultans: Sultan Mustafa III, Sultan Abdul Hamid I, Sultan Selim III, Sultan Mustafa IV and Sultan Mahmud II. Sheikh Omar continued to study religious sciences and hold Sufi sessions until he died in Damascus in 1233 AH. Among his poems are: “Diwan Al-Yafi” and “Al-Diwan Al-Saghir”.
