Abd al-Rahim Badr, an astronomer, physician, painter, and writer, was born in Hebron, Palestine, in 1920. He graduated as a physician from Cairo University in 1945, and died in 1994.

He was interested in studying astronomy, and with astronomer Khalil Consul, he founded the Society for Amateur Astronomy in 1987, which changed its name to the Jordan Astronomical Society in 1994. He was a member of the Jordanian Society for the History of Science.
