Saleh Abu Osba' was born in the village of Salama, Jaffa in 1946, received a Licentiate in Arabic Language and Islamic Studies from Cairo University in 1968; MA in Literary Criticism and Comparative Literature from Cairo University in 1977; PhD in Media from Howard University - Washington, DC in 1982.
Saleh has worked as a tutor in Tripoli from 1968-1970; Kuwait 1972-1973, as an editor of "Al Thaqafa" Magazine in Fatih University - Libya 1973-1975; visiting researcher at the University of Michigan 1979-1980; assistant professor (1982-1989) then associate professor of the Media Dept. in the United Arab Emirates University 1989-1991; media expert of the National Council of Arab Culture; lecturer at the Higher Institute of Journalism in Rabat; dean of the Faculty of Arts in Philadelphia University during the years 1995-2000.
In 2001, he worked at Sultan Qaboos University in Oman for one year, co-founder and general director of Dar Aram for Studies and Publishing in Amman, Jordan.
