Reyad Darwish was born Tiberias 1941, his family migrated to Syria following Al-Nakba in 1948; resided in Quneitra where he received his secondary education; he then joined Damascus University where he studied Arabic language Literature in 1966. After his graduation, he worked as a teacher; he then was transferred to an administrative job at the Education Directorate in Damascus. 
Reyad started writing poetry in 1957, but most of it had lost after the Six-day War in 1967.
