Tawfiq Sayegh was a Palestinian poet, was born in Southern Syria in 1923. He resided in Tiberias, Palestine for a while. Tawfiq studied at the Arab College of Jerusalem and the American University of Beirut (AUB), he also joined Harvard University in order to study English Literature. 
In the beginning of the 1960s, he released "Al-Hiwar" Magazine. In 1967, Tawfiq migrated to the United Sates of America where he worked as a teacher at the University of California, Berkeley. He died in 1971.
