Born in Reineh, a village near Nazareth, in (then) Palestine in 1928.

Lives with Samia, his wife, in Haifa. Abu-Hanna belongs to the minority of Palestinians that still lives in the homeland, and was a political activist.

Mr. Abu-Hanna is a founding member of different fields of culture: cultural magazines, the poet society, theatre and cultural societies.

 He is also a dedicated educator who served for many years as the director of the OAC college, and lectured in the University of Haifa and in the Arab Teachers Training College. Abu-Hanna brought reform to the curricula and educational policies which had been long in place for Palestinians inside Israel.
