Subject: Engineer/ Tawfiq Abdul-Fattah Arafat, the first engineer in Nablus 1879-1975
Thank you for this beautiful website. I would like to draw your attention to one of the prominent figures of Nablus in the last century, my grandfather, Engineer Tawfiq Abdul Fattah Arafat. He graduated in engineering in 1902, and his certificate was signed by the Sublime Porte in Istanbul with the seal of Sultan Abdul Hamid II (the original is with us). He was very distinguished in all subjects, as shown in his aforementioned certificate.
He is considered one of the first engineers in Nablus, if not the first. He designed and implemented many of the buildings, houses, and old homes of Nablus, especially in the Jasmine Quarter and others.
He was born in 1879 and passed away, may God have mercy on him, in 1975.
