Kamel Al-Mughni (December 27, 1943 - March 5, 2008)  was a Palestinian artist born in the Shuja’iyya neighborhood of Gaza . He obtained a Bachelor of Decoration degree from Alexandria University in 1966. He was one of the founders of the Association of Plastic Artists in Palestine, and he also contributed to the establishment of the Association of Plastic Artists in the Gaza Strip. He was affiliated with the ranks of the Palestinian revolution.

His upbringing and work

Kamel Al-Mughni was born in the Shuja'iyya neighborhood, east of Gaza City. He obtained a bachelor's degree in decoration from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Alexandria University in 1966, and then a master's degree in the psychology of symbol and color in 1987. He was arrested for three years in Israeli prisons from 1969 to 1972 because of his affiliation with the Palestinian revolution.

He was one of the founding members of the Faculty of Fine Arts at An-Najah National University in Nablus in 1993 , and a founding member of the Association of Plastic Artists in Occupied Palestine in 1974. He participated in the founding of the Association of Plastic Artists in the Gaza Strip in 1984, the Artists' Movement Office in the Nablus and Northern region in 1999, and the Department of Fine Arts at the Faculty of Arts and Media, Al-Aqsa University, Gaza in 2003.

He served as head of the Fine Arts Department at An-Najah National University in Nablus between 1993 and 2000, and as head of the Palestinian Plastic Artists Association in the West Bank and Gaza Strip from 1990 to 1991. He also served as head of the Palestinian Plastic Artists Association in the Gaza Strip in 1989, and as head of the Artists' Movement Office in the Nablus and Northern region in 1999.

He held thirty-five solo and duo exhibitions both in Palestine and abroad, and participated in most of the group exhibitions of the Palestinian Plastic Artists Association within Palestine, as well as most of the group exhibitions of the General Union of Palestinian Artists abroad. He participated in the signing of a cooperation agreement between the General Union of Palestinian Artists and the Soviet Artists Union in 1979, and in the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Palestinian Artists Association and the Artists Union of the German Democratic Republic in Berlin in 1988. He was the representative of the General Union of Palestinian Plastic Artists on the International Art Committee in Paris in 1988. He also worked as a lecturer in design at Al-Aqsa University , and designed the university's logo in 2001.

He completed nearly six hundred works of art during his artistic career, which are still on display today in a number of international museums and private collections inside and outside Palestine. He was chosen as a distinguished international artist for the year 2000 in the global encyclopedia: Who's Who, which is concerned with the world's creative people.

His death

Kamel Al-Mughni died on Wednesday, March 4, 2008 , at the age of 65.
