Rita Awad is a Palestinian researcher, critic, and writer . She has many critical works and is considered one of the first Arab academics to be interested in studying the influence of myth on modern poetry .
About
Rita Awad earned a master's degree from the American University of Beirut , Department of Arabic and Near Eastern Languages, in 1974, with a thesis titled: The Myth of Death and Rebirth in Modern Arabic Poetry, which she later published as a book in several editions. She also earned a doctorate in Arabic language and literature from Cairo University .
Her cultural activity
Rita Awad’s name emerged in the early seventies , when she presented critical works and articles on modern poetry and the novel, including her book published by Cairo University (Faculty of Arts) in 1974 under the title: Children of Gebelawi : Between Vision and Expression , a novel by the Egyptian writer Naguib Mahfouz .
In addition to her work, “The Myth of Death and Rebirth in Modern Arabic Poetry,” she published a series that included the most prominent pioneers of modern Arabic literature, including: Ahmed Shawqi , Elias Abu Shabka , Gibran Khalil Gibran , Khalil Hawi , Badr Shakir al-Sayyab ...
Awad works as the Director of the Department of Culture and Communication Programs at the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO)
Dr. Rita Awad was honored by several cultural organizations, including: her appearance as a guest of honor at the Frankfurt International Book Fair in 2004 AD, which chose her for her great role in the Arab League . She was also on several judging committees, including: the Cairo Prize for Poetic Creativity in 2007.
